How are bikes made?

-By people using machines in America.

-We use as many domestically-sourced raw materials as possible, union labor when we need to, and life-long friends when we can.

-There is nothing "green" about making stuff out of aluminum or stuff in general, as the general public is starting to understand- BUT our bikes are built to last.  One aluminum frame made domestically and built to last 15 years is going to have a much smaller carbon footprint than a new Chinese-Made $4k wonderframe that needs to be replaced every time you lean it against a parking meter.  Reduce, Downcycle but most importantly, shred every day.

Why do we make them?

-It comes down to necessity.  15 years of full-time experience working at small U.S. bike companies has left us unable to find straight jobs, and more importantly horrible employees.  A bunch of years of full-time bike geekery doesn't even impress the manager at Subway, let alone some sort of job that makes a livin wage   Bikes, especially aluminum bikes are what we know how to do better than anything else, by far.  Even with strings of initials, certifications and college degrees, we're a bunch of unemployable bike geeks.

What's up with Aluminum?

Simply, it's the best cost to performance ratio when it comes to building bikes, it's easy to manipulate and when properly designed it makes for very light, very lively-feeling bicycles.  Don't beleive the hype and misinformation, you can make a great bike out of any material, even fucking wood!

Are you guys the same Spooky from back in the day?

-Kinda.  I (Mickey) was a shop grom and team racer from 1995 until Spooky 1.0 had to close up shop in 2000 after years of debt, exploitation and general chaos caught up with us.   I went to college, studied exercise science with some design and business classes thrown in, and then launched myself out into the world--designing and making stuff on the periphery of the bike industry and occasionally getting stuck in bike shops--for the next 3 years.   In May 2007 the stars aligned and we were able to resuscitate the brand.

We're new and different- but the belief system will never change.

Why are you guys so cranky?

-Open your eyes!  Before we change the world, we need to change ourselves.  Support your scene, your friends, your family, your community or watch it all vanish.

Warranty Policy:
Our frames are built to be durable, not indestructible. If you break one of our bikes due to a manufacturing defect, we will fix or replace it at our discretion. Sometimes things don't go as planned, so we offer reduced pricing on crash replacements. If it has been abused (hit with a hammer, incorrectly assembled, attacked by a bear after you left a steak on it, etc.) we will try to help you out, but cases of abuse are not covered by our warranty or crash replacement policy.
We've broken our share of bikes. We know the difference between a manufacturing defect and an equipment failure caused by abuse.
Return policy:
We work hard to put our customers on a properly sized bike. If we've made an error in sizing, the return process must be initiated within 30 days of receiving the product. After 30 days, we can't do a damn thing for you. Any returns must be cleared with Spooky prior to shipping. Approved returns will require photographic documentation of the rider aboard the bike in question to evaluate the fit. Bikes eligible for return must be in “unridden” condition. In the case of an approved return, the customer shall be responsible for the shipping costs of returning the frame, and Spooky will cover shipping for the replacement.
B. Fried Clause: We need to see you on the bike to know how it fits. As such, any returns not accompanied by photographic documentation will be considered illegitimate and be subject to a $300 restocking fee, to be paid prior to replacement or issuance of credit. In such an event, the customer will be solely responsible for all shipping costs incurred.
Sales on non-Spooky branded products are final, unless specific permission is granted by our returns department.
The actions taken upon return of a frame will be limited to the replacement of the frame with the correct size frame of the same model (color will depend on available stock,) or an issuance of credit towards another Spooky frame, and it is at the sole discretion of Spooky to determine the appropriate course of action.
